A weekly roster template that just works.

People down the side, the week across the top. Type shifts straight into the grid, print it for the wall, or download a CSV for your records. It saves in your browser as you type — we never see it.

Tip: write the role with the time — “9:00–5:00 floor” answers the question people actually have.

How to use the template

Fill the busy days first — Saturday’s needs are non-negotiable, Tuesday flexes around what’s left. Put a role in every cell, not just times. And before you print, run the three checks a spreadsheet can’t do for you: nobody closing then opening (the hospitality award wants 10 hours between shifts), nobody over their weekly hours, and every shift at least the minimum engagement. Our guides to writing a roster and Fair Work roster rules cover the method and the rules.

What a template can’t do

The grid doesn’t know who’s available, qualified, or near their hours — and the printed copy starts drifting from reality at the first swap. That’s not a reason to pay for software at four staff; it’s the reason software exists at fourteen. The honest breakdown is in when you’ve outgrown the template.

When the grid stops being enough.

Rostru does the template’s job plus availability, warnings, live wage cost and a staff app — free for up to 4 rostered people, with 30 days free on every paid plan.
